origami_vanity is, like us, a pro worrier. Do you have any calming advice for her?
I have a gripe of the (perhaps) highest nature. Actually it's two gripes. So, college in the fall and hoorah! The thing is I'm worried about dorms. One of my main concerns is that the dorm I'm living in is the oldest and most rundown dorm on campus. And although I know I won't be suffering alone, is there anything I could do to make my stay less of a moldy downer? Should I just avoid my dorm at all cost except for showers and sleep? (I sort of don't because I hear dorms are where all the hip happening things of college happen, besides the Quad and frat parties.) Start a "We can't turn on the pipes and if we do brown water comes out" support group?
Second, I think I might be at odds with my dorm mate. (I've only met her via Facebook though.) As in we could never get along if we tried because apparently "We're not the type that would hang out with each other." Now, I don't want to be a spoil-sport and I don't want to be someone who gives up just yet, so do you have any tips on working with your dorm mate? Like getting along and ground rules (are those necessary?) Do dorm mates really have to be best friends? Because I can't see that happening even though I really, really want it to! Thank you for all your help!
Leave your advice on 1) stinky dorms and 2) mean roommates in the comments!
