Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908, is a novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. It tells the story of Anne Shirley, an imaginative and talkative orphan who is mistakenly sent to live with middle-aged siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert on their farm in Avonlea, Prince Edward Island. The novel follows Anne as she grows up, makes friends, and finds her place in the world.
