It’s been leaked on the internet for one or two days now, but Nintendo has officially released the anime trailer for the upcoming Pokemon Black 2/White 2 video games to the masses! Granted, this isn’t a trailer for a new Pokemon television series—a bit of a shame, yes—but rather a fully animated introduction for the video game itself. And from what we at The MindHut saw from the video, this just might be the ultimate Pokemon video game.
The original Pokemon Black/White games left many wondering what became of the games’ reluctant antagonist N, with the credits showing him riding atop Reshiram/Zekrom (depending on your version of the game) to who knows where. But the very opening of the trailer shows that N will indeed be making his return to the Unova Region, with his motives currently unknown—unless you understand Japanese and can tell us, because that would be fantastic (seriously, leave it in the comments below if you do!).
As per usual in nearly every Pokemon game, the player’s quest to become a Pokemon Master is hindered by the region’s resident organization of miscreants and their petty Pokemon-related crimes. Picking up the pieces from their previous defeat in Pokemon Black/White, Team Plasma is coming back with a vengeance and now appear to be wearing uniforms that, in a fashion, pay some kind of homage to Team Rocket. Not to mention the return of the sinister Shadow Triad who—in the previous installment—didn’t have much of a role aside from appearing now and then for various reasons. Now it seems we’ll be seeing even more of them with a chance Pokemon battle or two.
Other intriguing developments to note are the city entrapped in ice and a more serious tone when compared to the more lighthearted games of the past. Pokemon Black 2/White 2 will released in Japan this June while the western release date is slated for Fall 2012.
What do you think of the trailer?
