3 LEGO Reasons We Wish We Were Still Kids

3 LEGO Reasons We Wish We Were Still Kids

When I was a kid, we had a barn. And that barn had a room. And that room was full of LEGOs. I played LEGOs into my teens, and seeing what the LEGO gods have created now simply blows me away! I wish I was a kid again!

LEGO has definitely directed some of their content towards nerdy pursuits. Here are a couple:

Lord of the Rings LEGOs: You read that right. LEGO now has Gollum, Samwise Gamgee, Gandalf, Boromir, and Frodo with a ring the size of a LEGO bracelet. There's Uruk-Hai and Riders of Rohan and Black Riders and a cave-troll! And if this wasn't enough, there's even a video game. The reason we know LEGO is targeting nerds is that the Lord of the Rings films came out years and years ago; true, the Hobbit is coming out this winter and they will undoubtedly cover that, but the fact that they're covering Helm's Deep and Weathertop down to the details makes it time to get your LEGOlas on! (Nyuk nyuk)

Marvel Superheroes LEGOs: And not just Avengers, either! There's Magneto, Wolverine and Deadpool! Thor looks hilarious, slightly pudgy and more than slightly awesome, and Loki's horns are gigantlers! Is this not the best thing that has ever happened to LEGO? (Only problem—there's a Hulk, but no Bruce Banner. Sad face. He's always angry, I guess.) And we couldn't have Marvel without...

DC Super Heroes LEGOs: Which have been around for a while in the form of Batman, but are now adding more heroes. They do this most in the new video game Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, bringing in Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, and Superman! The reason we know they're targeting nerds is that many of these characters, such as the Flash and Wonder Woman, have never had their own movies and are loved most by a comic-literate audience. Now they just have to come out with physical LEGO minifigures of these guys and we can do a full-out Marvel vs. DC war!
