VIDEO: The Super Friends Stay Golden (Girls)

By Steven Romano

Earth-1985, the alternate reality where an elderly Batman, Robin, Superman, and Aquaman retire from the world of costumed vigilantism and move into a house in Miami to enjoy their golden years over late night cheesecake. Just kidding! Fellow geek site Topless Robot posted this animated mash-up of the Super Friends acting out the entire intro from the Golden Girls. So, be a friend and watch what just might be the greatest super hero parody video you’ll see this week (or in your lifetime)!

The video’s creator and animator—Kevin Bapp—actually drew the DC heroes over the actresses in the opening credits, hence the fluid movements and Aquaman’s somewhat disturbing likeness to Rose (Betty White); and his male pattern baldness is only adding to this creepy factor.

According to the video’s description on YouTube, Bapp intends to pitch his video as a potential pilot for a series on Adult Swim, granted he can get in contact with Cartoon Network and acquire the rights to the characters from DC Entertainment. So what do you think, Masterminds, should Super Golden Friends become an animated series? After all, it has been a while since we had a cartoon in the same vein as Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law?

Would you watch Super Golden Friends?
