MindHut at Comic-Con: Quentin Tarantino Crashes Before Watchmen Panel to Announce Django Unchained Comic
Twenty minutes into the weekend's Before Watchmen panel, DC Editor-in-Chief Jim Lee introduced an unexpected guest, famed film director Quentin Tarantino.
The crowd went nuts when Tarantino took the stage, though no one quite knew what he was there for (the thought of a Before Watchmen movie briefly flashed through this blogger's mind). But we soon had our real answer: DC would release a five-issue Django Unchained comic starting in November, a month before the film hits theaters. Tarantino said that the comic would come straight from his original, unedited script. In other words, unlike most comic adaptations of film, this one won't cut anything; it might actually include MORE material than the final edit of the film does.
Later in the day, Tarantino and some of Django's cast and crew unleashed even more news about the film. However, it's a fair bet that the people packed into that hall weren't as surprised as all us folks just looking to hear a little bit about Rorshach and Doc Manhattan. Also, DC, a Tarantino-helmed Watchmen project probably wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
