Fisher’s role as Leia was one of the first in a long tradition of strong female characters in science fiction. She was a trend setter, plain and simple! Although it has been almost 30 years since the original Star Wars trilogy ended, it’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t know of Carrie or the role she made famous.
