Disney just announced that it will purchase George Lucas' Lucasfilm for the nothing to sneeze at sum of $4.05 billion. And if that's not enough "wait, what?" news for you, Disney also announced that come 2015 it will release Star Wars Episode VII: the movie Star Wars fans started clamoring for in 1983 and mysteriously stopped clamoring for midway through 1999.
Lucas said "For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next. It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime."
How do you all feel about this? Excited? Afraid? Be wary of the latter, because as a wise man once said "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to George Lucas not releasing the original films on Blu Ray out of spite."
Do you think Episode VII is a good idea or not?
