Regarding the business side of being an artist, Downs says, “It’s tough, and as a creator be careful what you wish for. Creating art and selling art are two completely different endeavors. Of course finding an identifiable style is necessary to build a brand and name for yourself and once you do that be prepared to keep creating that item and style. I love what I do and would choose nothing else, but I do have to take days to create just for myself without my business in mind.”
