Kepler Space Observatory

Sending probes and rovers to new moons and planets is exciting, but what about exploring worlds beyond our solar system? The Kepler Space Observatory has been looking for Earth-like exoplanets for over 3 years, and has turned up hundreds of so-called "Goldilocks" planets. The mission was scheduled to be discontinued this year, but this week, NASA announced it will be extended to 2016 due to its huge success.
