James Webb Space Telescope

The James Webb Space Telescope, scheduled for launch in 2014, is the most sensitive infrared telescope ever built. Like the Kepler Observatory, it's can search for conditions suitable for extraterrestrial life, but it can also capture light from the universe's first stars, and its most distant galaxies. Far surpassing the power of the Hubble Telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope is basically a time machine, observing the early universe with unprecedented precision.
