President Obama is serious about going back to the moon, but not just to retread the Apollo program. The Obama administration plans to construct a manned station on the far side of the moon at a Lagrange point—a gravitational eddy that allows spaceships to essentially park at one spot, rather than orbit. If it gets the green light, this mission will be scheduled to launch within the decade!
