Mercury

Mercury is a tortured world, and the least explored terrestrial planet. That's why the European Space Agency and the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency are teaming up to launch BepiColombo in 2015, set to arrive in 2022. Unfortunately the mission's lander was scrapped for budgetary reasons, but its two orbital probes will give us new insights into why Earth was smart to keep its distance from the Sun!
