Europa Submarine Mission

Ever since the Voyager probes sent back pictures of Jupiter's ice-moon Europa, planetary scientists have been aching to explore it. The two conditions that led to life on Earth—liquid water and volcanic heat—are both thought to be present on Europa, making it the likeliest candidate for alien life in the solar system. NASA's Jupiter Europa Orbiter mission was shelved this year, but scientists still hope to send a submarine there within 20-30 years.
