Johannes Stoffler was a German astronomer, mathematician, priest, and Doomsday prophet. He predicted that a new flood would cover the Earth on February 20, 1524, and his scientific authority convinced a lot of people. One man even built an ark. He and many others were trampled to death when on February 20th, it began to rain (but thankfully not for 40 days and nights).
