Junkanoo, The Bahamas

Junkanoo is a giant masquerade, held towards the end of December in the Bahamas (variants are celebrated in Jamaica and West Africa as well). While the Christmas season to most of us is strictly color-schemed with red, green, and white, the Bahamians prefer to explode the entire spectrum and dance in the fallout. Junkanoo parades are legendary for spectacular costumes, such as the one pictured here.
