The U.S. space exploration budget has been majorly slashed since the Apollo Era, but scientists in this field still dream big. That's why in 2012, NASA and DARPA announced a new initiative: to achieve interstellar travel within the next 100 years. In a joint private/public venture, the agencies are aggressively researching new ways to reach beyond our solar system, to the stars. Last one to Alpha Centauri is a rotten egg!
