Last month, the European Space Agency and it private collaborator Foster + Partners unveiled a new approach to lunar bases: using 3D printer technology to build bases onsite. You can view some of the astounding images of this new design in Gizmodo's article about the announcement. The ESA's designs got us thinking about all the many ingenious ideas scientists have had for setting up lunar and Martian colonies.
