The Very Large Array
The name kind of says it all, doesn't it? The VLA is an enormous radio observatory in New Mexico, consisting of 27 antennas with a dish diameter of 82 feet and a weight of 230 tons. Their purpose? To "listen in" on the most exotic places in the universe, such as black holes, quasars, and the combustive center of our own galaxy.
