The Human Genome Project
Speaking of awesome genetic discoveries, let's talk about the Human Genome Project! This effort to map the entire human genome was kickstarted in 1990, and with the help of the world's top researchers, completed in 2003. Usually we think of discovery as being an outward exploration, but mapping our complex biological codes is the ultimate adventure of inward voyage. Not to mention, knowing our blueprints is a major win in the battle against genetic disease.
