Earth Gets Ready For its Closeup
Speaking of celestial bodies and their fascinating whims, what can we expect to see from our own planet in 2013? Well, thanks to the Landsat program, we're likely to see Earth in more detail than ever! Landsat 8 was launched on February 11th, and will continue its makers' mission to photograph the Earth in the highest resolutions possible. Of course, the program gleans all kinds of useful information about our planet's geology, forests, and agriculture but we're mostly interested in giving the Earth a fancy photo shoot (such as this amazing image of Hawaii!).
