The Tasmanian Tiger (Thylacine)

These beautiful carnivores went extinct so recently, we actually have video recordings of them (warning: it's very sad watching this proud beast reduced to captivity). Though they are nicknamed tigers or wolves, they are actually large marsupials, and their closest relative is the Tasmanian devil. Their wolfish look is an excellent example of "convergent evolution," or the acquisition of traits across animal families.
