Charles L. Fontenay
Charles L. Fontenay is another member of the older guard of science fiction, but his work remains relevant to this day. Our favorite piece is his short story, "The Silk and the Song," which is a mashup of science, mythology, adventure, and lyrical riddles. It follows Alan, a human enslaved by an alien race on a faraway planet, who slowly comes to realize that the "Star Tower" in the middle of his masters' city is somehow linked to his own heritage. Fontenay also wrote some wonderfully cheesy pulp novels, such as Rebels of the Red Planet, which is more or less exactly what it sounds like (ie. awesome).
