Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Considered by some to be among the very first science fiction novels, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is pure awesomeness in book form. Although it isn’t assigned nearly as often as some of the other books on the list, Frankenstein stacks up against the rest of the regularly assigned classics. Any of us who have seen any monster movies are familiar with the story, but the novel is a wonderful read despite its age (the oldest on this list)!
