Where In Space Are We, Again?

The Movie: During Vickers' cringe-inducing seduction of Janek, she mentions that she is a half a billion miles from the eligible bachelors on Earth.

Real Life: Half a billion miles away from the rest of humanity, huh? That puts this alien moon world somewhere near Jupiter. As Douglas Adams so wisely wrote, "Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is." Indeed, a half-billion miles is nothing in the grand scheme of space. We're told that the crew is about 37 light years away, so Vickers is actually separated from any other potential mates by about 200 trillion miles. Stuff like this enrages us simply because it would be so easy to Google the right answer! The Internet is not just for the celebration of lolcats, you know (though we admit that it mostly is).
