9. Trekkie Conventions



Star Trek is pretty much the foundation upon which geek culture was born, so to attend a Trekkie convention is to gaze into both the history and future of geek culture simultaneously. You can show up as yourself, but cosplay is encouraged, and if you can't understand what the heck anyone is saying, it's probably because they're speaking Klingon. The beloved show has become such a cultural phenomena that these events can be found in nearly every state, so look to see if there's one in your area and boldly go where billions of geeks have gone before.
