The Age of Enlightenment

With a more accurate understanding of the world around them, the 17th century's "Age of Enlightenment" was a confluence of scientific discovery and uninhibited imagination. Lunar voyages and space travel in general were a common theme among writers at the time, with works including Francis Godwin's The Man in the Moone and Cyrano de Bergerac's Comical History of the States and Empires of the Moon.
