We Rank the Doctors!

7. William Hartnell (First Doctor)

William Hartnell gets mad props for being the very first of the group. He originated the role, had nothing to lose, and nothing to go on. Hartnell turned in a really strong performance time and time again as the Doctor, even when he was forgetting his lines! The fact is that if William Hartnell hadn’t been as good as he was, we wouldn’t be talking about Doctor Who at all—it would be just another one of those shows that died early and became forgotten.
