The Snake That Killed a Queen

30 BCE was a bad year for Cleopatra. Her empire was in revolt, her ex-boyfriend's family was conquering her lands, and her beau Marc Anthony had committed suicide. So she said, "screw this, I'm outta here too." She attracted a venomous asp snake to bite her, and peaced out. Her death monumentally affected the development of the Roman Empire, which has in turn has affected pretty much everything on the planet. The snake that eased her journey into the reed fields of Egyptian paradise presumably went home and told its snake family that Pharaoh blood is just okay.
