These Guys Were Going to Play Superman???

Before your brain totally explodes, we need to tell you that no, of course Kevin Smith was never set to play Superman, but he was the first in a long list of writer/directors who took an unsuccessful stab at writing the screenplay. It's an experience Smith says was rife with frustration, and according to him, the producers killed the script with a myriad of idiotic demands. Among the odd plot points they insisted upon was having Superman battle a "giant robot spider" at the finale.
