Eryops, if anything, was essentially a giant salamander with a sharp set of chompers and an appetite to match its size. Experts posit that Eryops fed on fish more so than other terrestrial vittles, suggesting that it was a sluggish creature. You see, “sluggish” is the kind of word that puts a damper on potential ticket sales, so Eryops would need a scientifically inaccurate makeover, something along the lines of a sticky frog tongue or secreting venomous mucus. Purists would likely riot, but it does make Eryops more exciting.
