The J.J. Abrams-produced Cloverfield took the found footage film to a new level, and its success was due in no small part to an amazing viral ad campaign that has since been copied countless times. The online ads featured the young stars of the film partying it up in a series of hand held, camcorder recorded shots. At the very end of the clip, a thundering crashing sound is heard bringing the party to a stand still. The man behind the camera and a couple of the party goers spill out onto the streets to see what the deal is, and just then, the Statue of Liberty head flies down the street right past them, decimating everything it its path. Genius.
