Green Lantern (Simon Baz)

Nearly every comic book aficionado knows that when DC Comic's writer extraordinaire—Geoff Johns—is at the helm of a comic book, he’s going to shake up the status quo with something new and innovative. And during his final tenure on Green Lantern, Johns introduced the Muslim Lantern, Simon Baz—successor to the previously presumed deceased Lanterns, Hal Jordan and Sinestro. In a society still trying to overcome the post-9/11 racism and Islamophobia towards the nation's Arab-American communities, the addition of Simon to the grand tapestry of the DC Universe is welcome and a sign of cultural progress moving in a positive direction.
