Oracle

It was a tragic turn of events when Barbara Gordon—a.k.a. Batgirl—was shot through the spine by the Joker, in his twisted attempt to drive her father, Jim Gordon, insane. Confined to a wheelchair and suffering from depression, Barbara eventually saw clarity and refused to be sidelined by her disability. Utilizing her know-how of computers, Barbara took on the mantle of “Oracle”—becoming the eyes and ears of the world, providing Batman and other heroes with secret intel. Since the New 52 reboot, Barbara has once again donned the cowl of Batgirl, but the memory of her ordeal fuels her resolve and gives a devoted legion of fans overcoming their own disabilities a heroine to look up to.
