Hammerhead Shark

Hammerheads are a group of species known for their bizarre cranial structure. Their eyes rest on opposite lateral projections, giving them 360-degree vertical vision (meaning they can monitor action below and above them simultaneously). They are fairly social compared to other sharks, preferring to hunt in schools during the day, and venturing out for some alone time at night. Hammerhead mating rituals are also kind of hilarious: males violently bite the females until they "agree" to mate. So romantic!
