There has always been an evolutionary arms race between predators and prey. Raptors may develop sharper claws, but Trikes will counter it by growing spiked shields for heads. So while the threat of being eaten is no fun, life is dangerous for predators too. Indeed, fossils of carnivorous dinosaurs reveal blunt force trauma inflicted by animals dead against becoming a menu item. To survive in the Mesozoic world, meat-eaters had to be careful not to literally bite off more than they could chew. That's a good lesson no matter what eon you're in.
