12 Life Lessons We Learned from Dinosaurs

Don't Give Up

Sue is far from the only tough-as-nails theropod ever unearthed. The Allosaurus known as Big Al sustained serious injuries all over his body, as evidenced by his battered skeleton. 19 of his bones were broken when he died, including ribs, vertebrae, and several foot bones. There is no doubt that the poor guy suffered quite a lot of pain, but he kept on trucking until the end. Such stories are common in paleontology — just last month, a T-Rex tooth was found lodged into the spine of a hadrosaur, but the victim clearly lived to tell the tale. So when life knocks you down, just remember that if Big Al, Sue, and old toothy-back Hadro learned how to hang in there, you can too.
