Harvey Pekar in American Splendor

American Splendor is a terrific indie that's half documentary and half comic-drama that stars Paul Giamatti as Harvey Pekar, an extremely respected writer on independent comic books and an all around misanthrope. The film sheds light on Pekar's work, love life, and curmudgeonly persona in an unconventional manner that makes one feel as though they were living inside a comic book. The result is endlessly creative and hysterical.
