The Jedi Were Imperial Bodyguards

We barely got this slideshow started and your mind's already blown, isn't it? Long before the Great Rebellion, the Jedi—or the Jedi-Bendu as they were originally called—once served as the Emperor's devoted legion of protectors, essentially laying the foundation for the Imperial Space Force. And in a twist carried over into Revenge of the Sith, the Jedi were accused of high treason by the New Empire with the Sith sworn in as its new defenders.
