Vader Doesn't Wear a Helmet

Where would Star Wars—from the films to merchandise packaging—be without the globally recognizable helmet of Darth Vader? It's best not to think about the intergalactic spaceway not taken. Originally, Lucas envisioned Vader as a somber general sans life support, bearing scars on his face (it doesn't compare to his big reveal at the end of Return of the Jedi) from battles hard-fought. The design of his overall suit, on the other hand, didn't experience any major changes.
