The 20 Coolest Unsolved Mysteries in History

The Voynich Manuscript

This mysterious folio was written sometime in the 15th or 16th Century in central Europe, and is one of the most beautiful books ever made (skim through it online here, if you don't believe us). But though it's illustrated and painstakingly crafted, we don't have the faintest idea what it says. That exquisite text is written in a language so unlike any other that many historians believe it's total nonsense — some Renaissance goofball's idea of a prank on the entire future of humanity. Until we crack the code of the Voynich Manuscript, we at MindHut are going to assume it's Middle Earth Elven. Though would it be Sarati, Tengwar, or Cirth? LOTR nerds: duke it out!
