Ningyo

The Ningyo shares much in common with the mermaid, with the weird exception of the fact that its mouth was that of a monkey. Their meat was said to be uncommonly delicious, and consumption of them would bring remarkable longevity. Catching them, however, would eventually bring great calamity upon the fisherman who caught them as well as upon his town, so fishermen who caught them were advised to throw them back into the sea.
