Bombardier Beetle

The insect world is populated by a plethora of insects that release a foul-smelling liquid as a defense mechanism against predators, but none are more nauseating and painful as the bombardier beetle. Like a living teapot, the bombardier beetle’s abdomen contains two chambers filled with hydroquinone and hydrogen peroxide. When threatened, the tiny chemist mixes the two, creating a chemical reaction that generates an intense heat and builds pressure. Upon reaching the boiling point, the bombardier beetle unleashes the burning fart juice—straight in your pretty little face!
