Snow Crash

The bizarre semi-satirical novel Snow Crash is one of the great sci-fi novels that's long overdue for a screen adaptation. It's one of the quirkiest novels of its kind, containing a hero protagonist who is actually named, believe it or not, Hiro Protagonist, and a groundbreaking story that bears no small resemblance to The Matrix movies, which it predated by over ten years. So why didn't this epic get the screen treatment it deserved? Well, its mix of hyper-violence and odd nature made it another bet that the studios weren't willing to make. Sci-fi fans still hold out their hope that this property might be resurrected in the future.
