David Lynch's Return of the Jedi
David Lynch is an exceptional filmmaker who makes REALLY, REALLY, REALLY weird films. In fact, he's pretty much America's greatest and most successful director when it comes to movies with an avant garde edge. So it would have been, at the very least, an incredibly unique experience to have seen how Jedi would have turned out if the experimental director of The Elephant Man and Eraserhead had accepted the offer he received in 1982 to direct the third installment of The Star Wars Trilogy. Now we have no problems with how Jedi turned out. It's freaking amazing, and we are fully willing to admit that Lynch's version could have been a total trainwreck, but even if it was, it would have been such a gloriously strange and unique trainwreck that we can't help but wish we could have seen the results.
