1984 by George Orwell

George Orwell's masterpiece encouraged people to question the answers they were being fed by everyone, not just the government portrayed as "big brother." The problem with the really sad ending is that Orwell is unintentionally saying "Yes, things can be bad, and you should know about it, but it won't matter, because you'll lose anyway." Way to be a downer!
