The Birds (1963)
Leave it to Alfred Hitchcock to cause worldwide pants-soiling over the prospect of being done in by birds. Back then it was mere fantasy, but today’s global warming trends have disturbed the flight paths of migratory birds up north, driving them to roost further away from southern climes. Such an incident occurred last year in Hopkinsville, Kentucky when a flock of blackbirds settled in the city. They didn’t attack residents, but the barrage of droppings (covering buildings and walkways) became a public health hazard—and drove up umbrella sales exponentially.
