"The Vision of the Last Judgment" by William Blake, painted in 1808. Far from the colorful, bloody versions of this Christian end-times story we saw from the Medieval and Renaissance periods, Blake made the apocalypse abstract and monotone. Even so, the effect is just as awe-inspiring.
