By the time Wes Craven's Scream came out in the mid 90s horror films had been recycling so many of the same cliches that 99.9% of the time you'd see everything coming a mile away. Scream on the other hand was totally unexpected, not only did it keep audiences guessing at every turn, but it called out those tired horror cliches, openly mocked them and danced on their graves. It also gave us one of Horrors greatest heroins — the butt-kicking Sidney Prescott. It's truly a scary movie for people who love scary movies.
