Before Sam Raimi went Hollywood with the Tobey Maguire era SpiderMan films, he made quite a mark for himself in the world of horror with Evil Dead 2. It's hilarious, surreal, ridiculously gory, and totally out of control. It's also super weird in that it isn't actually a sequel to the first Evil Dead, it's a comedic remake; in fact, the recent remake of Evil Dead (decent in it's own right) owes more to the Evil Dead 2 than the first, which is far more restrained than its go for broke sequel.
